چکیده

Biosurfactants are amphiphilic compounds produced by various bacteria and fungi which reduce surface and interfacial tension. Oil contaminated soil were collected from four different automobile shop in Mayiladuthurai, Tamilnadu, India. Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated and identified from these four samples and these were screened for biosurfactants production using vegetable oil, kerosene, petrol and diesel by oil spreading technique and emulsification stability test and the best one of Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were used for biosurfactants production using vegetable oil, kerosene, petrol and diesel as source. The isolated biosurfactants were identified using TLC method. Among four different oils; diesel is the best source for the production of biosurfatant in both Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas aeruginosa have higher activity than Bacillus subtilis.

Rhamnolipid and surfactin production from olive oil mill waste as sole carbon source.

Olive mill waste (OMW) creates a major environmental problem due to the difficulty of further waste processing. In this work we present an approach to give OMW added value by using it for the production of biosurfactants. Two bacterial species, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis, were grown with OMW as the sole carbon source. Glycerol and waste frying oil were used as comparative carb...

Crude petroleum-oil biodegradation efficiency of Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains isolated from a petroleum-oil contaminated soil from North-East India.

The efficiency of Bacillus subtilis DM-04 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa M and NM strains isolated from a petroleum contaminated soil sample from North-East India was compared for the biodegradation of crude petroleum-oil hydrocarbons in soil and shake flask study. These bacterial strains could utilize crude petroleum-oil hydrocarbons as sole source of carbon and energy. Bioaugmentation of TPH cont...

Antimicrobial Activity of a Biosurfactant Produced by Bacillus licheniformis Strain M104 Grown on Whey

The aim of the present study was to investigate the antimicrobial effect of the lipopeptide biosurfactants produced by Bacillus licheniformis strain M104 grown on whey. The biosurfactant was investigated for potential antimicrobial activity by using the disc-diffusion method against different Gram-positive bacteria {B subtilis, B. thuringiensis (two strains), B. cereus, Staphylococcus aureus (t...
